From talking to existing customers about their experiences with other bridal retailers we have found that they have come across 'hidden extras' which weren't explained fully when trying on or purchasing an item. So here's what you can expect from us in plain english.
Trying on. We always endeavour to make this a pleasant & exciting experience as possible. You will never be put under any pressure to make a purchase. All your options, ie colour choice, sizes available & when you need to order, will be given to you before leaving then the decision is yours to make in the privacy of your own home. If you are torn between two dresses in different shops our advice is to make appointments in both shops (one immediately after the other), this should give you a much clearer idea of the dresses & the service you can expect. Please note:- we are a child-friendly shop.
Purchasing. When the decision is made the next step is to place your order. Your deposit will be 50% of the total cost of the dress, all accessories can be paid for on delivery from the manufacturer. You will be asked to sign a contract that has full terms & conditions on the reverse of it & we will go through these with you at the time of signing. Different terms apply to sale gowns.
Got a budget? These days it is realistic to have an idea as to what you wish to spend on your wedding & this includes your dress. If you have a price in mind that you want to pay for your dress just let us know & we tell you exactly which styles are available below that price - you will never be offered dresses to try on that are out of your budget as this can cause great disappointment when the price is stated. We also offer a payment plan where you can pay for your dress overtime - please get in touch for further details. We want you to have your dream dress but at a price you can afford!
Petticoat Hire. Most gowns will require a petticoat/hoop underneath just to make wearing the dress easier throughout your big day. These help to carry the weight of the skirt, give ease of movement when walking or dancing & help to give the dress the right shape. They come in a variety of shapes & sizes to suit all dresses. Our petticoat hire is FREE with new orders. Please note:- we require a £50 cash or cheque holding deposit on collection of your petticoat - this is returned to you when you bring back the petticoat.
Weddings Abroad. If you are planning to get married abroad we have a range of styles which are suitable for this. We offer a packing service to guarantee that your dress reaches its destination in top condition. This will cost you the price of the amount of acid free tissue paper we use (usually between £5 & £10), we don't charge for the actual packing of your case. We require that you are with us whilst we pack your case.
If you are having a second blessing/party on your return simply bring your dress back to us for a second steam, so once again your dress looks fresh.
Maternity Bridal & Bridesmaids. We offer a made to measure service on maternity gowns for brides & bridesmaids. These dresses are usually started 2 - 3 weeks prior to the wedding & completed the week of the wedding. The cost for these start at £150 for bridesmaids & £250 for bridal. You get complete choice over the style & colour of the dress, but always remember that this delicate condition places restrictions on the kind of structure & fit a gown can have. Having straps to your dress is most advisable so that the weight of the dress is carried on the shoulders not around your 'bump'. For more info please get in touch.
Baby Bridesmaids & Christening. Again we offer a made to measure service on these special little outfits. The outfits are made a couple of weeks before the wedding. The same applies to christening outfits, for boys & girls. We also make co-ordinating bibs to go over the outfit with embroidery stating the babys' name, the date, (& if a christening, the church) & usually a small motif ie a cross or flowers etc. These outfits are made to match your wedding day, co-ordinating your smallest bridesmaid with yourself & your older bridesmaids. Don't let that special little girl or boy in your life have a 'department store' outfit that doesn't fit too well & doesn't quite match, when they can be as well dressed as you are.
Collecting your gown. Your gown is usually collected a day or two before your wedding & even though we are city centre based there is a loading area directly in front of the shop. Your gown will be steamed ready for you to wear. If you are hiring a petticoat you can also hire a dress bag to transport your dress home with you. These can be purchased separately at a cost of £15.00. We will offer advice as to what to do with your dress when you get it home to keep it in its best condition.
Cleaning your gown. If you would like your dress cleaning after your big day simply return it to us with your petticoat etc. We will advise you if there are any marks on your dress that will not come out. You can also have your dress tissue wrapped & boxed by us after cleaning at no extra cost. Getting married abroad? If you want your dress cleaning before your reception back home please get it back to us asap. We charge £40.00 for a first clean & £70 for two cleans. Please note:- you will be advised at the time of purchase whether your dress is suitable for our cleaning process.
Bought your dress elsewhere? If you have purchased a dress elsewhere that doesn't offer an alteration service please get in touch with us for details about having us alter your gown. Please note:- we will not guarantee to be able to carry out alterations until we have seen your gown & what needs doing to it.
We offer a professional steaming service on gowns purchased elsewhere. This is available whether you would like it professionally steamed for your big day or will be returning from abroad & want it freshening up for your reception back home. The cost is between £10 & £25 depending on the size of the gown.
Petticoat hire is available, the cost is between £25 & £50, dependant on the size you need. The £50, cash or cheque, holding deposit is also required & this is returned to you on the the return of the petticoat - your hire fee is non-refundable. Terms & Conditions will be explained in-store.
